Welcome to the St Michaels College Union web site.
It is with pride that I am leading the union in this its 25th year. It is tribute to the founding members of the union and subsequent members and union committees that the union has come this far.
This is going to be an eventful year. Not alone are we celebrating our 25th year, but the Spiritan Community is celebrating 150 years since the order was first established in Ireland. As I become more aware of the achievements of the Irish Spiritans the more I am immensely proud of the fact that I was educated by them. I think it is beholden on us as a union to try to ensure that future generations of St Michael’s students carry the Spiritan message forward.
Those of you with boys or proposing to have boys in the school will be glad to hear that academically the school continues to perform at the highest level in the recent leaving certificate exams. This is a tribute to the pupils and teachers, supported by the children’s parents.
The strength of the union is based on the strength of the friendships that we developed in school. We as members of the wider St Michael’s Community are experiencing a period of change not seen arguably since the foundation of the union.
The union has to adapt to the circumstances that it faces. This we are doing. As a union we are working to improve the business networking capabilities. We are also continuing the very successful business lunch which will be held this year on 12th March 2010 in the Four Seasons Hotel.
